A Christian-based residential recovery for men and women struggling with the disease of addiction. The DOVE’S NEST is an opportunity to help prepare and serve a meal on the second Monday of each month from 11am-1pm. EMAIL Elaine Foster to help serve. REBOUND prepares and serves breakfast the 2nd Monday of each month from 5:30am-7am. EMAIL Sam Moran to help serve.

Formerly known as Urban Ministry Center and Men’s Shelter of Charlotte, Roof Above combats homelessness by providing assistance, meals, and shelter. Each winter, PUMC opens its doors, providing overflow shelter to those without a home of their own. Neighbors from Roof Above spend a weekday night in our downstairs Mission Center. We serve and share the love of God by providing compassion, meals, hospitality, transportation, showers, prayers, laundry access, cots, a listening ear, etc. If interested in serving, EMAIL Chad Kelley or EMAIL Tom Foster.

What’s Next is dedicated to walking with our at risk youth neighbors throughout their teenage years. Check out their sweet video which highlights PUMC where this daily work occurs (click HERE). PUMC is renewing our financial partnership in 2023 with Crisis Assistance Ministry (CAM) to provide direct aid to persons experiencing a financial crisis with utilities or rent. By financially partnering with CAM, we can better help those in our community in need. Click HERE to learn more about this partnership.

There are an estimated 50,000 displaced or homeless young adults in the Charlotte area! On Ramp resource center hosted by The Relatives has a tremendous success rate in helping these young adults 17-24 years old make the successful evolution from displaced youth to being an independent adult. Through case management and structured support, the center empowers young adults to find employment, education and housing opportunities, ultimately leading to independence.

PUMC supports the United Methodist Committee on Relief providing disaster relief and response trips to the southeastern United States and beyond. Tornado, flood, hurricane, and wildfire relief is nearly a constant need and we are eager to support and resource relief efforts as they arise.

PUMC continues to invest mission support and volunteers in Haiti to help establish clean water initiatives, provide economic loans to Haitian women and several communities in northern Haiti, provide medical mission teams that treat more than 3,000 patients per week, and educational projects and funding to help advance generations towards a more prosperous future.

A two-year pilot program for the Cap Haitian Ministry Center (CHMC) was originally funded by Providence UMC. The onsite office provides structure and support to our ministry partner Dr. Eugene. In 2017, the CHMC successfully launched and is now supported by an independent non-profit and funded by many contributing members including churches, universities, other non-profits and individuals. Providence UMC is now one of the contributing partners.

A team from Providence UMC, along with other United Methodists from Minnesota, Idaho, and Florida, recently served our neighbors led a five-night camp for eighty youth who are new to the Christian faith Mukachevo, Ukraine. The camp, themed “Closer to God,” aimed to deepen the youths’ faith and offer hope amid uncertainty, especially as many may soon face military service.
