Our Mission

Our mission is to communicate God’s love as it is revealed through Jesus Christ and to provide an environment for children that encourages each child to grow spiritually, socially, cognitively, physically and emotionally. We are a Christian program which acknowledges and respects different religions and cultures represented in the program.

Christian Education

This is an important component of our curriculum where children learn to live daily in a world created by a loving God. Children experience formal times of Christian education in the classroom, Chapel and Tiny Chapel. During Chapel time, children worship by singing, hearing a Bible story and praying. Monthly outreach opportunities are emphasized for children and families to participate.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum follows the National Association for the Education of Young Children guidelines for a developmentally appropriate classroom learning environment. The curriculum aligns with the school’s mission, goals, and philosophy. Our curriculum coordinator helps facilitate planning and training for our program teachers and support staff.

Classrooms

Our classrooms are set up in a learning center style. This set-up invites the children to learn at their own pace and comfort level. The materials available in the centers change as well as the centers themselves according to the curriculum and skill sets that are being emphasized.

In-House Field Trips

Providence UMC Weekday School offers what we fondly call “in-house field trips.” These are opportunities for the children to interact with people from outside of the preschool. The invited guests share their special gifts with the children. These opportunities broaden the children’s world by allowing them to have new and different experiences. Some of the field trips that are provided include:
