Honor and remember our loved ones with a flower as part of a larger Sanctuary altar arrangement on Sunday, December 20 (11:00 am Lessons and Carols Service) and Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24 (5:00 pm Service). This year the flowers will not be distributed. Also, for this year, the profits from the flower orders will be given to Providence UMC Missions. The order form is available through the button below. You may send a check with your order, along with your designation, to Providence UMC, Attention: Lisette Helveston, 2810 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211. One list of dedications will be printed in the December 20 bulletin. Please make checks payable to Providence UMC.

It’s that time of year again…a time for believing, a time for giving, a time for HOPE. We recognize the world looks a little different this year, filled with a lot of uncertainty, but that isn’t going to stop us. With everything going on, we can’t think of a better way to show the love of Christ than by giving to the many wonderful children in need across our community. If you’re interested in being a child’s angel this year, please see below for details on ways to sign-up:
1. SignUpGenius Follow the link to find a child you would like to gift. Note, the sign-up sheet will not be live until November 21, so please be sure to check after that date.
2. Email qnsangels@gmail.com Find it easier to email rather than navigate a website…no problem. You can email us and we will be happy to pair you with a child in need and email you back with their details.
3. Venmo qnsangels Don’t feel like shopping, we’ll do the shopping and wrapping for you. Please feel free to send your donation via Venmo.
For reference, we have found that Angels generally spend around $80 - $100 on each child.

ACCEPTING DONATIONS THRU CHRISTMAS EVE
Each year, Providence UMC gives 100% of the Christmas Eve offering to make a big impact by helping a deserving ministry reach an unrealized dream. This year, the Mission Council selected a local non-profit who is doing amazing things in the lives of refugee and immigrant children—Our Bridge for Kids.
The Bridge For Kids Dream: Community Garden, Outdoor Drama Center, and Chicken Coup
For years Sil Ganzo, Executive Director, had a dream to provide outdoor classrooms and spaces for their kids. But there was never enough room in the budget. Their dream is to build a community garden, an outdoor stage for cultural performances/drama club, and a chicken coup. The Aldersgate Retirement Community (a United Methodist supported ministry) has already enthusiastically shared their vast property so that Our Bridge Kids can have a permanent home there, and have also given the okay to enhance the green space. And, they already have the plans, the volunteers, and the curriculum to make them inclusive and relevant to the kids and the cultures represented. They just need the funds to make their dream come true.

Looking for a way to celebrate the beginning of Advent with your family or friends in a COVID-safe manner? Order dinner from our own Chef Delores Jones! Pick up will be at the front portico of the church between 5:30-6:00pm on Tuesday, December 1. Plates are all one size and will include sesame chicken with plum sauce, rice pilaf, roasted asparagus, apple cranberry casserole, rolls, and fresh apple cake.
Dinners must be pre-ordered and pre-paid! Cost is $12 per person if paid by check and $13 per person if ordered online at the UMW page of the PUMC website (to cover the convenience fee for bank drafts and credit card charges). Make checks payable to UMW and mail to Isabel Johnston at 7928 Oratorio Place, Charlotte, NC 28270. Act quickly because the order deadline is Friday, November 20.

BRING JOY TO THE WORLD WITH AN ADVENT KIT FOR YOUR FAMILY
We may not be able to gather this Advent as we would like, but that doesn’t mean we are unable to celebrate Advent in a way that brings Joy to the world! We are providing all church families who want one with an “Advent Kit” that will provide for you with the tools to bring Joy to the World.
Advent Kits include:
+ A daily Advent calendar will focus your heart on scripture and prayer and a practical action that will bring joy to someone else.
+ An Advent wreath to light each Sunday during the online worship services.
+ Luminaries to place in your driveway on Luminary Sunday (December 20) and to invite your neighbors to join you.
+ A Christmas Eve candle to light together with your congregation during the special online Candlelight Service.
+ Instructions for online Angel Tree gifts and Heart of Giving cards to support our core missions.
A unique Christmas Eve offering will be unveiled in which Providence UMC can come together to make a huge blessing on a very special ministry.

+ A Heart of Giving card is included in each Advent Kit. Additional cards are available by contacting the church office. Contributions can be made by mailing checks directly to the church or by donating online. The church office will contact all donors to confirm how to distribute funds and whether additional cards are needed.

Christmas is right around the corner, and so is the 2020 UMW Petite Cookie Walk. Like everything else, the Cookie Walk will look very different this year. After all, it’s 2020!
Instead of our huge event in Wolfe Hall, we will take prepaid orders from November 1-30. Our selection of cookies, cakes and crafts will be smaller, but we’re sure that there will be something for everyone.
Pick-up will be held via a contactless drive-thru on Saturday, December 12th, from 9:00am to 12:00 pm at the Church.
ALL PROCEEDS will support our two special missions: UMAR and Partners 4 New Hope Hospital. A Donation can be made on the mail-in order form.
