Helping our Neighbors in Kentucky

Many of you have inquired about how to help our neighbors in Kentucky, especially since our own Rev. Brandon Dirks recently served in that conference. The Bishop of the Kentucky Annual Conference of the UMC, Bishop Leonard Fairley, recently sent out a notice encouraging all to first pray for our brothers and sisters in that area who “once again face disaster with a deep faith in Jesus Christ.” You can stay updated through https://www.kyumc.org/2022-south-east-ky-flood-updates. If you’d like to help, consider making a financial donation to Providence UMC’s Disaster Response fund (HERE). If you would like to donate in person with a check, you can make checks payable to PUMC and write “Disaster Response” in the memo. 100% of all donations will go directly to the KY Annual Conference Disaster Response team. It’s times like this that the connectionalism of the United Methodist Church can make a huge impact on the needs of others.

Our own bishop, Bishop Ken Carter of the Western NC conference, has approved a $20,000 gift to the Kentucky Annual Conference as they begin the process of responding to the needs of local clergy and churches that have immediate needs beyond the scope of typical disaster relief agencies.
