Our children have been exploring Christian Symbols this summer in their Sunday morning program. As an extension of this study, we invite all the children of the church to help make a Symbol Quilt that will be hung in the church.
Pastor Rhonda has muslin squares that have symbols drawn on them. You are invited to get a square from her and let your child decorate the square however they would like. It can be as elaborate, sparkly, bedazzled, or simple as your child prefers. Parents are encouraged to talk to their child about the story/stories of the Bible that their symbol could represent. Even infants and babies can have a symbol to decorate (with parent involvement!) so they will have a place in this moment of our church’s history. The only requirement is to put your child’s name on the square – be sure to leave at least a half-inch border so the name won’t be lost when the squares are stitched together to make the quilt.
Drop by Pastor Rhonda’s office to pick up a square or contact her (HERE) to leave a square for you at the front desk. Please have the Symbol Squares back to her by August 30.
