April Mission of the Month “Challenge” with Charlotte Rescue Mission

PUMC’S April Mission of the Month is Charlotte Rescue Mission. This local organization is dedicated to residential recovery services for women and men struggling with addiction.  Community Matters Cafe, Dove’s Nest, and Rebound are all Charlotte Rescue Mission programs.

This year, we’d like to issue the challenge to visit Community Matter’s Café at least once during April. Instead of having them come to us, let’s go to them!  Every time we visit the café, we are not only reinforcing the life skills of their residents, but we are showing them that they have a community that believes in their future. Visit for coffee, breakfast, or lunch. Organize your team meetings there. It is easy to get to, easy to park at, and has very friendly staff. When you go, snap a selfie that shows you are there and send it to Kate Boyd (click HERE).

Below are other ways you can support Charlotte Rescue Mission during the month of April:

  • UMW General Meeting on April 5 with guest speaker Ed Price from Community Matters Café will be here to share about this unique ministry of Charlotte Rescue Mission. Learn more HERE.

  • Serve breakfast at Rebound on April 25. Sam Moran has been organizing breakfasts for years with the men in recovery at Charlotte Rescue Mission’s Rebound (907 W 1st Street, Charlotte, NC 28202). Join his crew on April 11 at 5:30 AM by emailing him (HERE). Hurry - space is limited and there is a brief online registration for security purposes.

  • Serve Lunch at Dove’s Nest on Monday, April 11. Contact Elaine Foster (HERE) to join her team to provide a lunch for the women in recovery at Charlotte Rescue Mission’s Dove’s Nest. Space is limited.

  • Volunteer at the Dove’s Nest Easter Party on Saturday, April 25 (2 to 4 PM). Volunteers (18 years and older) needed to help with Easter Egg Hunt, Decorating, and Games. Please contact Elaine Foster (HERE) if you’re interested.
