This year our Advent Kit will use the Jesse Tree as a way to "Share the Story." The Jesse Tree is an invitation to return to the story of God to trace the salvation history that runs all through the Bible. By walking through the stories from creation to Jesus Christ, we are invited to track God's love story with humanity. It is another opportunity to share in the same hope, joy, fear, awe, and wonder of Israel as they lived in anticipation of God's promises. Its tradition is rooted (pun intended) in Isaiah 11. 1-10. The Jesse Tree is a way to focus on how the Old Testament (OT) stories all lead up to the birth of Jesus. Each day, there will be a story about a character who played an important role in one of the OT stories. And, each story will have a symbol that stands for the story.

In addition, we will send you a daily devotion written by a member of Providence UMC about the scripture for the day. There will also be a devotional booklet for the children that focuses on the daily stories and scripture. You must sign up for these emails (click HERE!)

There will also be several other items to help you "Share the Story." Once Advent is over, there is a unique opportunity with your kit to help you "Continue the Story."
