Becoming an acolyte is both a privilege and a responsibility. It is an opportunity for you to honor your membership vow of service in the ministry of our church through this important tradition in our worship. It also requires a strong commitment to be dependable and present when you are scheduled to serve. Your decision needs serious and prayerful consideration for a firm commitment to training and service.
Acolytes are required to attend training sessions in order to learn the procedures for the various duties. This year, we are offering two separate (but identical) training sessions. Rising eighth through twelfth grade youth who have been confirmed (or who are going through confirmation in the coming year) are invited to attend the next acolyte training session. Each acolyte-trainee should sign up for one three-day session: Tuesday-Thursday, July 12-14, 1:00 - 3:00 pm OR July 26-28, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. You must attend all three days of the training session in order to be fully prepared for consecration and duty. Also, if you have previously trained as an acolyte and feel you need a refresher lesson, you are welcome to attend one of the training sessions to “brush up” on your skills!
Please let Dr. Adam Ward know you will attend by Thursday, June 30. You may register to attend by calling (704.336.7442) or emailing the Music Ministry office (click HERE), or you may complete the form below.
