Children’s Choir

We are so excited about the new choir year, and we are hopeful that your child(ren) will be here to jump into the fall with us as we raise our voices (safely) in song. This year, we are particularly excited to have some new faces in our midst with regards to our Children’s choirs.  You’ll see more about that below.  Suffice it to say, we have a great year planned!

Children’s Choir will kick off on Wednesday, September 22

Cherub Choir (TK & Kindergartners) will rehearse Wednesdays, 5:00 to 5:30 pm, in Room D021. Mahari Freeman will direct Cherub Choir. Cherub Choir introduces our youngest singers to the world of music and movement. This is not a “performance” or “worship leading” choir, it is an opportunity to prepare children for the next steps in our music ministry

Wesley Choir (1st & 2nd graders) rehearse Wednesdays, 5:40 to 6:20 pm in Room D021. Mahari Freeman will direct Wesley Choir and Cynthia Broome will assist and accompany Wesley Choir. Wesley Choir leads worship once each month.  This choir learns rudimentary music skills and the basic skills of singing. They also learn to be leaders in worship, and they build a foundation on which they can excel in Junior Choir.

Junior Choir (3rd – 5th graders) rehearse Wednesdays, 5:40 to 6:30 pm in Room D022. Adam Ward will direct Junior Choir and Cory Davis will assist and accompany Junior Choir. Junior Choir leads worship once each month. This group learns music reading skills, they learn to be good singers, and most importantly, they learn what it means to worship and how to be good leaders in worship.

Genesis Ringers (3rd – 5th graders) will rehearse on Wednesdays, 4:45 to 5:20 pm, in Room D015. Adam Ward will direct Genesis Ringers. Members of the Junior Choir are eligible to ring in the Genesis Ringers handbell choir. This is a great group to reinforce musical concepts and to have a lot of fun making music in a kinesthetic way!
