We shall exist to SHARE the Good News of Jesus Christ with each other, as well as those in our community, nation, and world through our words and actions.

We shall exist to SURROUND our youth with opportunities for spiritual growth, safe learning environments, and Biblical Truths.

We shall exist to SEND ourselves to those who are hurting, or have lost their way; to those who may not know Christ; and to those who are weary, worn, and weak.

Youth Ministries at Providence offers 6th through 12th graders opportunities to share, surround, and send through…

  • Radical hospitality
  • Intentional faith development
  • Meaningful relationships
  • Fellowship and fun
  • Variety of service and mission opportunities

Sunday Mornings

9:45-10:40am – Sunday morning begins with a stop at our Breakfast Island before going to grade-level learning for Sunday School. This is a special time for youth to grow in their knowledge and understanding of God’s love through the Bible, the Christian faith, and how they relate to real life. Sunday School class locations vary during the summer months. Check the white board in the youth area each week for current information.

6th grade – Confirmation Room B220
7/8 grade – Tim Davis Memorial Room B222
High School – Discovery Center (break-out groups move to various open rooms for discussion and prayer)

Sign up for the Breakfast Island and/or UMYF Supper.

Sunday Nights

5:30-7:00pm, starting in Wolfe Fellowship Hall
UMYF (United Methodist Youth Fellowship)
Sunday evenings feature a $5 quick supper, followed by separate grade-level ministry gatherings for Middle School and High School. Youth experience a variety of programs throughout the year, including service projects, youth worship, game nights, and small and large group activities/discussion on faith-and-life topics. Friends are always welcome.

Sign up for the Breakfast Island and/or UMYF Supper.

We extend a special invitation to our 6th graders to participate in making this life-forming commitment to Christ. Students learn to recognize and respond to the Holy Spirit working in their lives, and they are given an opportunity to confirm, or make firm, their personal commitment to our baptismal faith. It is a way of saying “yes” to God.

Our Confirmation class meets during the school year. In Sunday school, we introduce a subject, and during UMYF, we put that subject matter to work – Faith in Action. The program is one of integrity and excitement. There is a two night Confirmation Retreat in November, they combine with the 7th and 8th graders for the Winter Retreat, and enjoy a Spring Girl’s and Guy’s Retreat will all grades. This is an excellent way to acclimate our 6th graders into the Youth Ministry program. By the end of the process, the Confirmands feel excited about taking the next step in their faith journey. We as a congregation are excited and inspired as well!

Additionally, Confirmands meet with a self-selected mentor to share faith stories and discuss the meaning of being Christian in today’s world. These intergenerational relationships grow into treasured friendships that last a lifetime.

Youth who connect with Providence after the 6th grade and would still like to have a confirmation experience are paired with a mentor and plans are developed to meet the individual’s need.

Especially for Parents

We begin our school year with a Parent Appreciation Dinner. At this dinner, the youth serve their parents a meal. We also share upcoming events and important information about the year and show a slide show of all the experiences that were had during the previous year. Everyone is welcome!

The Parent Connection
Youth Ministry is one of the most exciting program areas of the Church. Since you have a teenager living in your home, you are a part of these exciting challenges and growth opportunities each and every day.

Christian Education isn’t something that just happens within a program of the Church. It also happens in those small teachable moments as they learn to “re-connect” with YOU!

The Parent Connection is a group of parents who want to be more involved with youth ministry. They partner with the youth leaders to help support and equip parents with the tools to guide and communicate with youth such as:

  • Parent Newsletter
  • Parenting Your Teenager Workshops
  • Off to College Workshops
Medical Release Form 2019 – 2020
