The final words that Jesus spoke on earth before his ascension into heaven was:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
Missions at Providence UMC focus on participation and hands-on involvement throughout the congregation. In addition to whole congregation missions efforts, many Sunday School classes and small groups partner with specific agencies.
Local Areas of Focus and Partners:
- Housing – Room in the Inn (a service of Urban Ministry Center)
- Hunger – Men’s Shelter of Charlotte
- Healthcare – Rebound and Dove’s Nest (services of Charlotte Rescue Mission)
- Education – Freedom School Partners and What’s Next Ministries
The Haiti Mission began more than 30 years ago and is the longest running global mission project in United Methodism. The focus of our outreach is:
- Economic Development

Families Forward Charlotte:

Families Forward Charlotte (FFC), a local non-profit dedicated to easing the burden of poverty on children and their families, and Providence UMC have partnered in support of 15 children from Oakhurst STEAM Academy. Volunteers mentor an assigned child and their family 4-6 hours per month. FFC will provide the assistance needed to help anyone to be a great mentor!
