The Reverand Teresa Dunn is a native of Charlotte and has served Providence United Methodist Church since 1998. Her experience in youth ministry spans over 29 years and includes volunteer and staff positions. Teresa is a graduate of Pfeiffer University (BA, Summa Cum Laude and MCE). In 2011, Teresa was ordained as a Deacon in full connection at the Western North Carolina Annual Conference. She has also served on the design team for District Leadership Conferences and consults with local churches in the development and design of prayer stations and rooms, as well as Confirmation programming. Most recently, Teresa participated in a Youth Cohort through The Youth Cartel sponsored by WNCC.
Teresa has an extensive background in dance as a performer, including a tour throughout the country and as an instructor and choreographer for all ages. From this experience, she is able to incorporate liturgical dance in worship and other forms of ministry.
Teresa is married to David Dunn, also of Charlotte. David is a teacher and coach at Myers Park High School and enjoys working with the youth at Providence UMC as a UMYF counselor and a mission trip crew leader. They have two children, Chaselyn and Seth. Teresa enjoys trips with her family, singing, and scrapbooking.
Teresa and David are enthusiastic about serving at Providence and feel blessed to minister to such a wonderful group of teenagers!
If you could choose to do anything for a day:
Next to my relationship with God, nothing means more to me than my family and friends. My ideal day would be spent with them on a cool day at the beach. I would also like to invite Shaquille O’Neil to join us. I just think he is hysterical and his quick wit would really blend well with my friends and family.
