The Rev. Cole Altizer

Associate Pastor

Reverend Altizer is from Weddington, North Carolina and attended Weddington High School. He attended Brevard College and played on the tennis team there for four years. Upon receiving his BA degree from Brevard, he attended The University of Alabama, where he received a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education Administration. While at Alabama, he earned his Licensed Local Pastor designation from the United Methodist Church. He then attended Emory University, Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia, where he received his Master of Divinity.

Reverend Altizer has served the Rosman and Selica (Brevard) United Methodist Churches as well as the Bethany United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia. As part of his pastoral work, he has transitioned a church structure from a “committee model” to a “church council” model, started weekly Bible studies and prayer meetings, implemented a Community Table and Food Pantry, and other outreach ministries. He has served as a student-pastor focused on worship and pastoral care and started a program to provide aid to local runaway and foster children.

Prior to beginning church ministry, Reverend Altizer served as the Area Coordinator and Community Director for The University of Alabama, and the Director of Residence Life and Senior Community Director at Brevard College.

He has been involved in numerous ministries and higher education presentations and has received many honors such as being named the Selected Preacher for the Teaching Parish Worship at Candler Chapel in March of 2017. He also is proficient in Spanish.

Reverend Cole and his wife Lindsay are avid tennis players. Lindsay has a Master’s Degree in School Counseling.
