The Rev. Dr. Bill Jeffries

Senior Associate Pastor

Our Senior Associate Pastor, Dr. Bill Jeffries, is a graduate of Wake Forest University and Wake Forest School of Law. After practicing law for several years in Charlotte, he responded to God’s call to ordained ministry by entering Union Theological Seminary in New York City. Here he experienced the profound challenge of the church amidst an urban environment. He joined the New York Conference and was ordained an elder in 1986. Bill served St. James United Methodist Church in Lynbrook, New York, and Monroe United Methodist Church in Monroe, New York. Upon transferring to Western North Carolina, Bill was appointed to the Todd Charge near Boone. He served Shiloh United Methodist church, Concord, and First United Methodist Church, Gastonia, before returning to Charlotte. From 1993 to 1999, Bill served as Associate Pastor at Myers Park United Methodist Church in the capacity of Congregational Care, Church and Society, and Race and Religion.

Dr. Jeffries’ primary areas of concentration at Providence are Pastoral Care, especially with the homebound; teaching Bible studies to Sunday School classes and small groups such as Disciple; developing congregational care systems, including Stephen Ministry; and serving as staff liaison to various ministries of the church.

Bill is a native of North Carolina. He and his wife Terri are proud parents of sons Grant, Ross and Sean.

Favorite scripture and why:

2 Corinthians 12.9

It reminds me where to find strength in times of challenge in life.
